Andrea McCarren

President

Andrea McCarren is a nationally recognized advocate for veterans and military families. She’s also the Senior Vice President and Chief Content Officer for PenFed Digital, a team that produces inspiring content for the PenFed Foundation and Credit Union’s social media platforms.

Prior to joining PenFed, Andrea enjoyed a successful career in journalism. A former television news correspondent for ABC News and NBC News, her work has been recognized with 25 Emmy Awards and many other national and local honors. Andrea has covered the White House, Capitol Hill and the Pentagon, and local news in cities across the United States. She spent a year at Harvard University as a Nieman Fellow.

For two years in a row, Andrea was named the national Digital Leader of the Year by PR News for innovation and impact on the world of social media. In the military space, she’s been named to HillVets 100, an honor designated for the country’s most influential and impactful individuals in the veteran and military space.

Service is in Andrea’s DNA. She’s extremely proud of her late father’s service in the Air Force and Air National Guard, where he retired as a Brigadier General. He was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. Her late uncle served in the Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Andrea is a cum laude anthropology graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York and the London School of Economics in England. Last fall, she ran her first marathon—the Marine Corps Marathon. And loved every minute of it.
