Susan Gerstenzang joined the PenFed Foundation in March 2024 as the Philanthropy Associate. In this role, she supports fundraising and donor stewardship. She is excited to be part of an organization with a mission to advocate for the military community.
Susan has a background in journalism and marketing communications. She has worked on the editorial staff of a national consumer magazine in NYC, and in the hospitality and construction industries. In addition, she volunteered extensively at her children’s public elementary school, serving on the PTA Board and actively fundraising. She holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Susan loves to travel, and recently lived in Bangkok, Thailand—an experience that was transformative.
A native Coloradan, Susan now resides in Maryland with her husband and two teenaged children.
